Stupid is as Stupid does!

Alright, I thought that I had to share this one. Being in this news thing I get to see a lot of crazy things that don't make much sense from the most heinous crimes to the down right stupid. With that being said, tonight I had to go interview a police officer about a bomb threat at a Best Buy. This isn't your usual phoned in fake bomb threat, the accused was present at the time of the threat. He is a 23 year old college student with a requirement to buy a calculator for his new class so he thought like any other student go to the big box business and pick up the item. This is where I have to go on a bit of a tangent I hate it when the cashier asks if you would like the "extended warranty" or "today's best financing". Well so did this idiot, when asked would he like to take part in the many wonderful offers he became agitated. He finally got through paying, grabbed his bag and uttered these six words that would later get him an invitation to bubbas big dance at the regional lock up "I left a bomb in here". CODE RED. Police are called the bomb sniffing dog is sent and all of the surrounding area is evacuated. Of course nothing is found he just made a stupid statement. Let me remind you he didn't steal the calculator he paid for it with a credit card. That’s right a piece of plastic with all of your information contained in a wonder for magnetic strip on the back, information such as address phone number date of birth you know everything a police officer would love to have to complete his investigation. I don't think I have to go into detail about what happens next, he was arrested with the information provided by the receipt and is charged with a felony and faces up to 15 years in jail.
